Paddle the Green Harbor River

Until recently, those who wished to paddle a kayak, canoe or other non-motorized craft on the Green Harbor River had few appealing options for launch sites. They could pull to the side of Route 139 in Green Harbor and creep down the steep rocky embankment of the bridge at the Brant Rock Dike, or they could tramp hundreds of feet through overgrown brush and poison ivy. Marshfield Hires Goats for Poison Ivy Problem

Marshfield might be known for its Rams sports teams, but at Peter Igo Park, goats have taken the field.
The quadrupeds were on site at the park Aug. 27-Sept. 3 clearing invasive knotweed and poison ivy from the area at the corner of Marshall Avenue and Dyke Road.
“It’s the green way to go. There’s no noise, and no machinery. They’re self-contained,” said Bud Duksta, board chairman of Friends of Peter Igo Park.
