Peter Igo Park Open House a Success Despite the Weather

Well, despite the lashing winds and pelting rains Peter Igo Rangers (Board Members) were on hand Saturday  to greet and talk  with a large number of neighbors and interested residents about the current  progress of the park and its future plans.  Our neighbor, the local DAV, opened up their function room to all so after a wet tour of the park complex patrons were treated to famous Brant Rock Market chicken, white hot bean chili from the Fieldston Restaurant, hot coffee from the Donut Shack and delicious deserts from Cravings topped off with ice cream treats provided by  Ed Beaulieu of Cape Dairy and a local neighbor of the park.

Later in the afternoon Patrick Flaherty of Patrick’s Restaurant provided appetizers for all volunteers.

Just prior to moving inside, St Ann’s Pastor Carmichael, known to most as” Father Jack” stood in the rain and gave the Park his blessing and also blessed a core group of ”Friends of Peter Igo“ board members.

Relatives of the late Peter Igo , who served as the towns recreation director in the 60’s and for whom the park was first dedicated in 1972, were on hand after  driving  through the storm from Shrewsbury.

Special thanks to all our volunteers and local tradespeople who have offered and continue offering services in kind, the Dept. of Public Works many crews, Conservation Dept. and Police Dept.  who are working shoulder to shoulder with Friends  of Peter Igo Park to make our vision a reality for the entire town to utilize and be proud of.
